Lakeside Dreaming
The boats leading to the pavilion are iconic at Lakeside, and I couldn't resist painting them as Mom and I sat on a bench, waiting for the sunset. The Canadian wildfires have blown smoke our way, and the air is actually hazardous. It was so thick in Genoa, we could not see the other side of a crop field as we drove through. The sky only pinked up before fading to dark, so there wasn't much color to capture. The peace and tranquility here are truly therapeutic. Painting number 4950 in 4950 days.

Along the Garden Path
Known as the most beautiful stroll along the water, Lake Erie is but a backdrop for these glorious daylilies! Larger than my hand, these bold blooms rise above the foliage in abundance. I've never seen them glow like this, so of course, I HAD to paint them! I had so much fun talking with everyone as they walked by, and I'm happy this painting found a new home here, too! Morning on W. Second
I love painting downtown Lakeside, where most of the traffic is bicycles and gold carts. Everyone is so nice, and we visit about all things Lakeside. Often, couples will walk by a few times to see my progress as I work. What a great place to visit AND paint! I'm so happy this painting has found a new home in Kentucky! Rush Hour on Walnut
I LOVE returning to charming Lakeside to paint! I look forward to this weekend event all year, it's like stepping back in time for a few days. A great place for families, many return to the same summer cottage for generations. The Wet Paint Sale Sunday 1:30 to 3:30, outside the hotel near the pavilion on Lake Erie. It's always cool here by the water. Painting number 4945 in 4945 days.

Most Beautiful Mile in Lakeside

SOLD
What a wonderful garden path this is curving along the edge of Lake Erie! Garden blooms flourish as the waves lap the rocky banks, and many walk to and fro. I have painted here several times, soaking in the fragrant beauty of it all. It makes me happy to leave my paintings where they are created! Painting number 4590 in 4590 days.

Lakeside Welcome

What a wonderful entrance this is to the beach on Lake Erie! I have often wondered what the building to the right of the pavilion is, and I was told that it used to be a bowling alley! This rendition of the Pavilion also includes part of the Putt Putt golf stand, which I don't think I've included in a painting before. This painting has a happy new home here, too. Twilight on Second St
It's so fun to paint in the heart of town in Lakeside, Ohio! Bikes and golf carts are everywhere, as summer fun is in full swing. This historic street offers endless possibilities for paintings! I'm so happy this painting has a new home, too.

Lakeside Plein Air and Wooden Boat Show
It seems there is a special painting or two each year that gets a lot of attention. I intended to paint this in a small format, but when I set up my gear, I found myself pulling out a larger paper. This composition absolutely epitomizes historic Lakeside. I will be painting two others, slightly different, so each one is unique. This was the first painting to sold at the Wet Paint Sale, and is painting number 4587 in 4587 days.

Lakeside Farmer's Market
I love painting the historic charm of the Lakeside School - especially during the Farmer's Market! I just happened to walk up to the south gate to pick up my packet, and noticed the vendors and tents. I rushed back for breakfast with Mom, which ran late, and back up here in time to paint the tents before they packed up! It was a bit of a race with the clock - but I'm so glad I was able to commemorate this weekly summer event! This is painting number 4586 in 4586 days, and I'm happy this painting has a new home!

Twilight Ice Cream Run
Each night as we returned from a show at the Hoover Auditorium, this scene would jump out at me - begging me to paint it! After Mom and I enjoyed a cup and walked back to our hotel, it seemed too late to return. I knew last night would be my final chance - so I ran back up there and painted it. What I started in the twilight was full night when I finished. Some paintings just need to be painted. Painting number 4583 in 4583 days. I'm thankful this one went to a new home at today's Wet Paint Sale!

Lake Front Welcome
I love painting this iconic Lakeside Pavillion on Lake Erie! There are SO MANY things I want to paint, but time is growing short! I will need to paint fast in the morning to capture two more scenes in paint! Come see this painting and all of my work from the week at the Wet Paint Sale tomorrow at 1:30! Painting number 4583 in 4583 days.
Lakeside on Lake Erie
I LOVE painting this iconic Pavillion on Lake Erie in Lakeside, and stepping back in time! Hotel Lakeside is celebrating it's 150th year, and the whole place looks like it has been spruced up for the occasion. It's nice to step out of the historic hotel and start painting on the lawn, right along the water's edge! Painting number 4581 in 4581 days.

Maple and W Second St
Mom and I arrived in Lakeside this evening and I just had to go paint while she took a quick nap. This building has splashy new blue awnings that immediately caught my attention - so of course, I had to paint them! I love the vintage seaside charm of this place, and visited with quite a few people as I worked. Everyone is so friendly and it is great to be back in Lakeside again! Painting number 4580 in 4580 days. Come see all of this weekend's paintings on Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30 on the lawn near Hotel Lakeside.

Cottage Swing

SOLD
I love the story this swing tells, and this small momento of a special place was left for our host in Lakeside. Pat and Robert have been lovely to stay with these last three years in Lakeside, but it looks like they may be selling their sweet cottage before we return next year. A giant tree always greets us, with this beautiful old swing hanging from it's very large branches. Painting number 5112 in 5112 days.

Lakeside Wooden Boat Show
I just pulled this out of my bag from the Lakeside Wooden Boat Show! I had to pack quickly from the morning paintout get to the Wet Paint Sale, and I didn't get it framed or posted. Most of my paintings sold - and now there is one more to choose from. The wooden boats were set up on the lawn of Hotel Lakeside, with the fountain to set them off. As I was painting, the amphibian cars took off for a turn in Lake Erie - and I rushed this into my bag to be forgotten. Painting number 5111 in 5111 days.

Lakeside Beach
![]() |
SOLD
This is my first Lakeside Beach painting of the plein air event - but it certainly wasn't my last! I LOVE when a painting connects to so many! Sitting on a bench, this view grabbed me right away. It was the same bench my Mom and I had sat on to watch the sunset after dinner the night before. I had already studied the scene - wishing I had enough time to paint before - so it was a natural choice this morning. With ink and watercolor I captured the scene, and another artist joined me to visit before I finished. It was a lovely way to start the day - and asking the first 4 paintings that literally flew out of my bag to be purchased as I arrived at my wet paint location. What fun that was - and many others wanted this piece in those two hours. It really does pay to be first at a wet paint sale! Painting number 5110 in 5110 days.

Hotel Lakeside
Hotel Lakeside is such a beautiful historic hotel on the coast of Lake Erie. One can look out over the water while dining or sitting on the screened in veranda. Steeped in vintage charm, it is low stepping back in time to a more peaceful pace. It is a joy to paint here, if only for a few days. Painting number 5105 in 5105 days.

Historic Downtown Lakeside

SOLD
Painting in the heart of Lakeside is so much fun! With at least four locations serving frozen treats, there is constant pedestrian traffic! I talked and visited as I sketched this scene - dropping far more detail in than planned. Mom and I had to break for lunch before her favorite quiche place closed, so I had to return to apply the paint. A lovely couple offered me a smoothie, when they learned I had not yet tried the place. Due to their kindness, I am now hooked on those delicious, healthy smoothies! Who knew I could get something that I only make at home, from a shop? Amazing! Painting number 5104 in 5104 days.
