Looking Over the Huzzah

It has been another perfect painting day, with not a drop of rain though it was expected.  Part of our private estate paint in Davisville, Missouri, this overlook of the Huzzah River was magnificent!  Starting right at noon is never my favorite painting time for light, but with the cloudy day the light did not shift much.  I blocked in before lunch, and came back to add all the magic.  Sometimes a cloudy day offers a chance to really study the colors, finding beauty in the subtle changes.  Such a contemplative place to spend an afternoon.  I could paint this view for days.  Painting number 3069 in 3069 days. 

Huzzah River Autumn

 The Huzzah River is a favorite place to paint when down in Steelville, Missouri.  Known for it's rafting, the banks of this river are fabulous to paint from. On this day, I stayed close enough to the large bridge to duck for cover of the rain started.  It wasn't rain that poured down from the bridge, but road crews cleaning and rinsing the bridge!  That was fun to dodge all the dirty water!  Lol!  Just another plein air adventure!  Painting number 2903 in 2903 days.  This painting is currently available at Gallery Zeke in Steelville.

On the Huzzah River

It is always peaceful alongside a river.  The clear water of the Huzzah reflects the overcast sky on this morning, rushing by gently by the Huzzah River Resort. I painted here for the first time last year, and am so happy to come here in a different season. I love capturing the moods of autumn with ink and watercolor.  The air coming off this water is cold, and it's not long before I'm wanting to turn my back to the wind.  Immersing myself in the landscape, with paint, is such a joy.  Time stands still, cares fade away, and I am one with nature and the paint.  Painting number 2858 in 2858 days.
