Stockport Depot

 I loved finding this wonderful old historic red train depot to paint!  It is next to a veterans memorial, and along a bike trail, and it was fun to visit while painting.  I meet such good people everywhere I go, it restores my faith in humanity in crazy times. Tarpon and Safford

The historic district of Tarpon Springs is simply wonderful.  Old train depots are a favorite subject, and this one is right in the middle of town!  I noticed the same positioning in Dunedin, too.  No spacing away from other businesses as is often found in the midwest.  It is so very interesting to get to paint all these wonderful places!  Making a family trip out of this painting event, my mom has joined me to visiting my brother and his family.  So, I have been painting each morning and returning for family time in Palm Harbor.  I'm so lucky to get to get to do this every single day! Rocheport Depot

Here for an artist weekend of portraiture study, I simply can't resist my gorgeous surroundings!  Out at first light, I am squeezing in as many ink and watercolor paintings as I can before returning to my all day portrait study!  Love this historic small town and I can't wait to return with my oils to capture more of it's beauty!  Painting number 2874 in 2874 days. 

Elmore Depot

After spending the day in Genoa and Elmore, Mom and I settled in the Walter Ory Park, along the North Coast Inland Trail for a quick sketch.  The day was so warm, it was very pleasant to spend this record November heat outdoors.  Just last fall we attended a festival here, where we dined in this building with Mom's friends.  It has been fun for her to see so many of her friends, and bittersweet to head back to Missouri.  Love getting to spend time in this space, if only for a little while.  Painting number 2863 in 2863 days. 

Lee's Summit Depot in Metal

SOLDOld town Lee's Summit has so many wonderful things to paint!  This time, I am working metal to capture this historic train Depot!  I first sketch the scene out with a rounded metal tool, although I'm thinking of trying some wooden sculpting tools for this process. The metal works well for the copper side, but is a little too abrasive on the aluminum side, scratching a bit as it marks.  Even the seams on the plastic tools can leave additional marks.  I really want to explore more tools in this media before Christmas - I hope I get the time!  Painting number 2515 in 2515 days. 

Walt Disney Hometown Museum

As I rounded the corner, I found myself drawn to this place. I don't remember seeing this beautiful garden before today!  I paint in Marceline each year, how could I have missed it?  I found a little spot in the shade and started drawing out my composition.  This beautiful building once busy as the town's train station, now houses the Walt Disney Hometown Museum.  Once the lines were drawn with India ink, I brushed in the watercolor, pushing and pulling the color and value.  What started as a quick sketch became more detailed, and as I completed, I no longer wanted to do it in oil.  This 2445th painting in 2445 days was awarded Honorable Mention and has a new home, too!  I love painting Marceline!
