Shops on Main St

I love sketching the historic shops on Main St in Parkville, whenever I'm in town!  Today, I am showing the tools I use when I'm out in the field.  The silver TWSBI Mini fountain pen holds De Atramentis Archive Ink (water resistant), and the white and rose gold pen holds Levenger's Raven Black ink. I sketch out my scene and do all line work with these.  My watercolor half pans are compiled from several different Prisma Watercolorist Confections palettes, arranged to squeeze the most paints in my tins.  The water brush pen I use instead of carrying brushes and water.  If I need to refill, I've been known to pull that water from pond, fountain, or puddles!  My supplies are very compact and can fit in a pocket for easy access.  It's so easy to get out and paint when the set up is simple!  Painting number 3065 in 3065 days. Beverlin's Statuary

Early in the morning is the best time to sketch the charming shops on Main Street in Weston.  Beverlin's Statuary is adorned with beautiful statues and urns filled with blooms - and I just had to paint it!  With ink, I sketched my composition, and soon filled in with watercolor.  After this painting was finished - Mom and I went to the Green Dirt Farm Creamery for lunch!  Love these warm autumn days spent in such a charming, historic place!  Painting number 2831 in 2831 days 

Elle and Em and All Abloom

As I spend time with my parents, helping with my dad, I work on small paintings.  Inking, sometimes adding watercolor to sketches, helps me finish up work while sitting bedside.  I get a little time outside each day, but not like normal.  I do get out for a run on the Inland Trail, and I think I can outfit my phone holder with tiny papers and a pen.  I long to draw those farms as I run by them!  I'll give it a try tomorrow!  These tiny paintings will go to the Got Art Gallery on 3rd when I get back to town!  Painting number 2097 in 2097 days.

Historic Parkville Inked

Parkville is full of small town charm - especially the downtown district!  I enjoy coming here to paint, and I'm using pen and ink for this street scene.  The pilot varsity is my pen here, and I have a water brushpen in my pocket to move the ink and get my grays. It is fun as challenging to draw that sliding perspective as I look from one side to the other!  Painted during the Parkville in Art event, I just realized I had not posted this one.  Painting number 1828 in 1828 days.... if this Inge posts...... Looking Down Main

What a beautiful collection of shops there is along this historic Main Street in Dubuque!  With the light turning golden in the sky - I knew I had to paint it!  This was a quick paint since I had to work fast to get it to completion before the artist picnic at Eagle Point.  Onlookers were good company as I painted, and the awnings came out just in time to be painted!  My oldest daughter called me two thirds through in crisis - and I finished the rest on auto pilot!  Thank God for miracles large and small.  Painting number 1743 in 1743 days.
