Wheel Fun Rentals

This has been a fabulous day for painting, full of sun, sand and warm gulf coast breezes!  This cheerful place has called my name since I first stepped foot on the island - and today I am answering that call!!  It's fun to visit with the locals as they walk these white sand beaches!  Everyone is so friendly.  How could you not be in a place like this?  I find I am losing track of time as I work - who cares what time it is?  Life's too short for watching the clock!  Painting number 2613 in 2613 days.

Jollys on 3rd St.

Feeling more like August than June, I was comfortable in the shade with a good wind blowing.  There are so MANY wonderful shops in old town Lee's Summit to paint - it is hard to decide!  So, one by one, I will paint my favs each time I'm back in town!  How could I resist this polka dot awning in that fabulous shade of green?  Jolly's in 3rd Street is such a fun shop, too!  I really wanted to paint it on that rainy plein air night, but there was no cover with a good composition in view.  So, I am really enjoying the light and the colors today!  That cotton rag trim on the awning is genius - truly artistic!  Painting number 1975 in 1975 days.

Samsara Alley Inked

An alley may seem like an unlikely place to find beauty, but there are hidden treasures here!  This alley behind Samsara Home in Parkville boasts red doors, window boxes full of flowers, and a wooden awning full of charm!  I quickly decided to do a sketch and just see if this was truly what I wanted to paint. Often times, this step will help me made the big decisions on composition.  Sometimes, I'll move on or make changes.  Most of the time, this helps me mentally work through the painting before laying on a stroke.  Painting number 1726 in 1726 days.

Craig's floral shop is FULL of treasures!  Every view is a painting, and there were many things drawing me in - but THIS view grabbed me and didn't let me go!  So picturesque was the composition of chair, table, awning and all of those pots and buckets of greenery!  I set up in a tight spot, and painted in the shade - with an ice cold glass of lemonade served to me while I worked!  Ahhhh - life should be like this every day!  Painting number 888 in 888 days :)
