Autumn at Laurel Brook Farm

Its an honor to get to paint a special memory for a family!  The Laurel Brook Farm in Weston is a lovely place for an unforgettable wedding. Ablaze in autumn color, this beautiful old barn is such a cool place to paint.  The side is lit with hanging lights, perfect for the celebration.  And that turquoise truck - so awesome!  What a joy to be a part of something so special!  Painting number 3341 in 3341 days.

Windmill at Willow Creek

This windmill caught my attention as I scouted the property.  Lured back here by a wonderful old truck against the tree line, my eyes soon found many wonderful painting subjects!  I had one small paper and one small frame left from my 4 plein air events - so I used them for this!  Choosing pen and ink, I sketched most of the lines before I started on the blades.  The wind was blowing, making it very hard to see them!  I focused on one blade at a time, following it with my eyes as I sketched. It made me a little motion sick to concentrate on a spinning object! It was worth the effort - I do love windmills and this drawing found a new home, too!  Painting number 3180 in 3180 days

Overlook Chapel

As a momento to the bride and groom, I am painting the scene where they will exchange vows tonight.  I actually sketched this in ink, and started laying in color earlier, when rain moved in - and we headed for cover!  Rain and watercolor do not mix!  Returning from a morning hike - where Mike and I scouted several new places to paint - we went back up to the chapel so I could finish this before the ceremony! Mike had a wonderful conversation with a youth leader who came to this spot for reflection.  I wish I could have been part of the conversation, but alas time grew short!  Mike corralled little Casper as I worked, and he became very adept at walking up and down the incline of the mountain top! What a breathtaking view - I could paint here for days and not tire of the endless beauty!  What a slice of heaven this is.  Now I must get ready for the wedding!  Painting number 3152 in 3152 days.
