Looking up 1st Street

It was so much fun to return to Hermann to paint on 1st Street.  It's been a couple of years since I've been here, and I have never painted this view before.  It was very cold this morning, and the first cold snap always hits me hard!  With my smart wool base layer and winter coat (warm to -7 degrees) I was warm.  Today was a struggle with the wind - and the paintings were a fight indeed.  At least the sun came out to spread light upon my scene as a was just beginning to add color.  Yay!  Painting number 5161 in 5161 days. 

Downtown Weston

 

Weston is dull of vintage charm - and so much fun to visit for a weekend!  Mom joined me for the fun and we dined and shopped between my paintings!  I have several favorite places to hit while here, and I needed another day at least. Painting number 5086 in 5086 days.  This painting is now showing at Weston Coffee Roastery! 

Looking up 3rd Street

 It was so fun to visit while I sketched the view looking up  this historic street!  Locals offered suggestions to other great painting spots, and even asked questions about bringing plein air to Hermann.  In town for the First Friday Art Walk,  Mike joined me for this event.  Afterwards, we dined and enjoyed the live music at the 1837 Cellar Bar where we stayed at the Herman Crown Suites.  It is so nice to simply walk up to our room after a long, full day of fun. Looking North on 4th St

We had a hard freeze last night, so this morning's start was quite cold.  With my self heating fingerless gloves, socks and battery heated socks, I was toasty warm as I sat near my car to block the wind.  I don't think I've ever painted this side of town, so it was fun to explore this place in paint!  The Texaco on the corner is charming, and now a wonderful BBQ place called the Filling Station. With the north wind blowing, I could smell that BBQ from here!  Painting number 3385 in 3385 days.
