I have heard about this Pumpkin Farm each year, but this is the first time I found the time to come paint it!   What a treat!  Shreve's is the perfect October painting venue, complete with pumpkins, mums and all things autumn!   I love painting pumpkin farms - and this is only the second time I've done so!  I simply must plant my own patch next year!!  Painting number 1381 in 1381 days :)

Wow - this masa paper is thick!  Well, compared to the rice papers I have been using, that is.  I have so carefully wadded up the other paintings before flattening for the cracking of the wax, but not so on this one!  I had to work it down into a ball, and do it again before enough cracks appeared to float the paint in to!  And, just look at the larger scale of those creases - all due to a thicker piece of rice paper. I think it will be easier to paint on, once I get a few more under my belt.  I have grown so used to the tissue paper thin varieties, that I hardly know what to do with a paper that holds it's shape!  I'm going to have so much fun with this paper!  Painting number 650 in as many days :)

This little pumpkin patch was done completely with a palette knife.  It is a little tricky with it's very small size, and the painting of a full landscape instead of a much closer subject.  I love the stormy skies we have had the last three days - it has giving me the opportunity to paint them.  I am heading off to trick-or-treat with the family shortly - so I have to make this a quick post!  Painting number 298 in as many days.  Happy Halloween to all :)

I just love to see pumpkins growing on the vine!  Even more than that, it is so fun to grow them.  Their beautiful orange color absolutely pops in the landscape.  The bright, cheerful color matches my bright, cheerful mood today.  This morning, my dad sounded stronger than he has in a month!  So glad to see the progress - and I wasn't sure I'd hear him sound that strong again.  I had some wonderful news yesterday about an upcoming project - and with all the awesome things going on in my life this weekend - it has been hard to keep my feet on the ground!  Painting number 289 in as many days.  I wonder what wonderful gifts are in store for tomorrow :)
