At Home in the Garden

Another gorgeous day for painting plein air, and what could be more inviting than a trip to a favorite nursery?  I went in wanting to paint flowers close up, and decided on the whole scene for a quick 45 minute paint!  Best part?  I found another fabulous plein air hat!   They have the best hats - I almost painted their hat rack!  Painting number 1922 in 1922 days.

Potted Blooms

The rain was really coming down as we reached Frisella's Nursery.  I pulled together a few favorite flowers and started to sketch.  As I worked in the masses,  I tried to keep the visual pathway of darks flowing through the painting.  One of my friends came to visit me as I worked, and the time passed quickly.  Before I knew it,  my painting was finished and it was time to dash off to the next location!  Painting number 1570 in 1570 days :)

Frisella’s Nursery invited the artists this morning for an amazing breakfast of yogurt, fruit, croissants, scones and muffins!  After eating - and shopping for a new painting hat, I chose these flashy red geraniums for my second painting of the day!  Laying in my cad reds first, I then moved to the darks, and brought all the masses together with the brushwork.  I really enjoyed painting this, surrounded by so many beautiful blooms!  Painting number 1214 in 1214 days.

Our morning paint out was scheduled for Frisella's Nursery - and wow - the place was brimming with flowers!  These peonies instantly grabbed my attention - and I headed right out to capture them in oils.  These always remind me of my grandmother, and we have these growing in the garden, too.  Another busy plein air day, this was only the first of three! Painting number 854 in 854 days.
