Early Morning at Mount Pleasant

Early Morning at Mount Pleasant
Oil on panel, 14x11
Augusta Plein Air Festival
Oh my goodness - what a day!  Up at 3:40am to leave the house at 4:40, I arrived at the Mount Pleasant Winery to set up for the live broadcast of the Channel 2 Fox News in St. Louis.  Augusta is being featured - and some of us artists were set up and painting the sunrise from the south decks overlooking this amazing view!  From this location, we rushed over to Washington to paint along the riverfront, eating lunch while the art was displayed at John G's Bier Deck.  With only 45 minutes between this and the sunset quick paint at the Nobeleis Winery tonight - it was a very busy day!  And to think....I was actually planning on a nocturne paint tonight as well!  I must be crazy!  Painting number 479 in as many days :)

April in Mount Pleasant

April in Mount Pleasant
Augusta, Missouri
Oil on panel, 12x9
For the last few years, the Augusta Plein Air Art Show and Sale has been held at the beautiful Mount Pleasant Winery on the Saturday at event's end.  Last year, they repainted all of their buildings to the charming yellow with lime green accents you see here.  After an absolutely wonderful event, I snapped a photo of this as I was packing up to leave.  I love the old buildings and the 1859 charm that abounds here.  I enjoyed a very special dinner the night before, and this painting brings back the fond memories of my Augusta family and artist friends.  I am experimenting with the palette knife on painting 62 (in 62 days :)
