Lindsey Water Tower

We love to ride bikes along the North Coast Inland Trail whenever we're visiting my parents.  With the perfect compact travel sketch gear, I hit the path in search of the perfect subject.  The small town of Lindsey is one stop along the trail which unfolds through gorgeous farmland.  Loving the color of this wonderful old water tower, I sketched and then painted it all while on a quick water break at the park in town.  What better way to capture a slice of Americana than while biking across the countryside?  Painting number 2005 in 2005 days.

The Little Muddy Creek

The Little Muddy Creek
Oil on canvas panel, 7x5
purchase here
This view of the Little Muddy Creek, just outside of Lindsey, Ohio, is only visible from the North Coast Inland Trail.  We biked almost every day - and on the day I went 32 miles - this amazing scene was my reward. Golden hour sunlight shone through the trees, reflecting off the water's surface.  Without my gear, all I could do was take a few shots with my phone - to get to when I could!  This small landscape - only 7x5 inches is my 954th painting in 954 days.

On Lora's Lawn

On Lora's Lawn
Oil on panel, 12x9
On this warm, beautiful day in the 70's, I am thinking of Augusta and a day last April of plein air painting.  On this lawn I painted two paintings, and only had time to sketch this one out.  Today, I work from that sketch and my photo reference to paint the morning light streaming in from the east.  The Lindsey's were gracious hosts, allowing me to paint in their secluded location.  This little slice of heaven is right out the front door.  I will adjust a few details tomorrow, but for now I am letting this one rest.  This painting makes 70 in 70 days :)
