Dark Winter Creek

I am SO drawn to these dark, snowy scenes this winter.  The contrast and quiet drama of this place is very appealing, and so soothing to my soul.  A place to be still, and just let the painting unfold, this is truly art therapy in action.  With extremely low temps coming in the next few days, I will definitely be seeking shelter.  Painting number 2217in 2217 days.

Angler Pond in Ink

The early morning light streaming through the trees was a joy to behold at the Jerry Smith Park! I knew this would be the spot to paint, but first wanted to draw a couple of pen and ink sketches to be sure of my composition.  Michaela set up at the other side of the pond for her watercolor painting, and we spent a peaceful hour and a half at our work.  It was a quick paint, after all.  I'm nearing the end of this sketchbook, and when I'm done I think I'll do a video clip through, so everyone can see what fills my pages. I have a new book waiting fur me in the table! Painting number 1609 in 1609 days.

The light rain had eased up enough that I could head out to the arboretum to paint.  Knowing that I wanted to paint the falls, I pulled out the Deep Woods Off - to repel those pesky mosquitoes! With the music of songbirds and the babbling of the water, this peaceful spot was a joy to capture. Nothing makes me feel so alive as painting in the landscape. Nothing.
