Butterflies and Sunflowers

The butterflies and bees are all over these wild sunflowers - and so much fun to watch as I paint!  I even spotted a little worm inching up a stem, and if you look very closely, you'll see him too!  What started as blue skies, clouded over by the time I finished, but still no rain for us.  It's so incredibly dry here that I am watering again, just to keep this going.  Surely, we'll get a good rain soon!  Painting number 5148 in 5148 days. 

Wild Sunflower Dance

 

Oh those cheerful sunflowers! I wait all year to paint their sunny yellow faces!  The explosion of wild sunflowers is such a cool thing to paint, and every day is different!  I have one of these natives that is 10 feet tall already - and the blooms are only starting to pop.  With my busy schedule, I am taking every opportunity to get a little sunflower paint time in before they fade for another year. Painting number 5116 in 5116 days. 

Sunflower Dance

It's sunflower season again - and Beau is guarding the perimeter as I paint, lol!  Last year, I had one giant sunflower plant with over a hundred blooms on it, before a storm blew it over.  I left the seed and spread the seedlings around when they popped up in the spring.  Now, they are glorious, and I'm finally getting a chance to paint them!  It's fun to capture their whimsical forms as they stretch to the sky!  This is day 6 of the current #stradaeasel challenge, and painting number 4326 in 4326 days.
