Columbine!

I can still remember walking around the yard with my Grandma, as she told me the names to all of her flowers.  This is one I have loved since childhood.  I thought it had a funny name - Firecracker Columbine, and we always had a Fourth of July gathering - with fireworks!  It has been raining lightly, but I could still get this little ink and watercolor sketch in before putting away my garden tools for the day!  Painting number 2679 in 2679 days.

The columbine outside of my kitchen and pantry windows has simply exploded in my absence! My grandmother planted them decades ago, and still they flourish.  She called them firecracker columbines, and the fairy like heads sit atop very tall, wispy stems.  Today, I paint from my garden, but everywhere I went while running errands - I longed to set up my easel and paint!  I think I need a small guerrilla thumb box to just pop in the car for those quick little trips out.  Any one of them could turn into a painting adventure!  Painting number 858 in 858 days.
