Summer Scene

It was so fun to paint the Summer Scene festival at T.B. Hanna Station Park in Raymore!  It has been years since I have been in town during this week to attend this festival.  Last time I was here, a few tents were lined up in the grass under the trees, no Pavillion, no playground or sprayground, no public facilities either.  Wow!  What a difference! It was a lovely evening full of live music, performances and art.  I loved the angles of the festival tents leading to the band, so I sketched in ink and added the watercolor. Once I finished and framed this, it was purchased by the city for someone special.  Love that this painting found a new home! Painting number 3113 in 3113 days. 

Wine Stroll on Main

The Wine Stroll in Marceline is so well attended, and a lot of fun to participate in!  I had turned in my last painting for the plein air event when I walked out of the gallery to see this scene.  What grabbed my attention was the bright turquoise VW Bug - but it was soon blocked by festival goers!  So, I got in what I could of the bug, and filled in the rest of the scene while it was completely blocked!  LOL - at least it didn't drive away!  Painting number 2466 in 2466 days.

Root Beer Stand

The Arts in the Park festival at Macken Park was a lot of fun!  Live music, fabulous root beer and plein air - who could ask for more?  This rustic root beer stand caught my eye right off, and I returned to draw it for my second work of the day.  Finding a spot in the shade, I sketched as my daughter shopped the art booths for special works. One can find the coolest things at these festivals! This drawing and two others will soon be hanging at the Paper Birch Landing, a gallery in the Northland.  Painting number 1971 in 1971 days.
