Gallery Augusta

It's super fun (and messy) to explore fountain pen inks in the field!  Magic happens when that chromatic ink mingles in wet masses, as I gently manipulate the paper to control the flow.  Unpredictable and vibrant - these Diamine inks are rich, and the possible results are endless!  This painting of Gallery Augusta is now showing at Gallery Augusta!  Painting number 3771 in 3771 days.

It is fun and challenging to work on miniature metal pieces for Music Art Love in Sainte Genevieve!  With the image no bigger than 3.5x2.5 inches - it is a little tricky to work this metal at this scale.  No gallery carries these pieces for me - as I sell them quickly.  So, in gratitude to Music Art Love - my first gallery space in this lovely town, I am creating a few works of local places just for the proprietor to show.  I may have a couple pieces larger than this one, but for now I'm concentrating on the miniatures. My first one is of a favorite place in town - and the only place I stay  - Main Street Inn! Artwork number 3304 in 3304 days. 

Pumpkins in Fountain Pen Ink

Now that I'm home from so much plein air painting in the road - that creative bug keeps biting me!  There are many mediums I enjoy, though I mainly use a few on the road.  So, this is my chance to play and explore!  I've done a few of these in the field, but I feel like I need a lot more time to see what they can do.  This one is 5x7, but I think I'll do a bunch in a smaller size, focusing more on the mingling of color and controlling the values. I love dropping more ink into the wet areas - they move and spread at will. I hope to get a lot of painting time in this fall!  Painting number 4397 in 4397 days.
