Old Stand at Dunn's Cider Mill

What a treat to spend the morning at Dunn's Cider Mill!  It is off season, but I was there delivering a painting, so I got the chance to scout around a bit!  This old stand in back is the one they used to haul out to the road to sell their goods - so of course, I had to paint it!  I love those little slices of history!  Ink and watercolor on handmade cotton paper, and Levenger's Raven black ink in a favorite TWSBI Diamond fountain pen in limited edition gold.  Painting number 2755 in 2755 days.  I just discovered this did not post last night - so I'll try again.  Now, today's post will have to wait. Sure wish our service was better out here!

Dunns Cider Mill

This local cider mill is a favorite place to paint, and a favorite place to gather with friends through the years.  Cider doughnuts are always welcome this time of year!  Another ink drawing pulled from my bag for the addition of watercolor.  I like layering the watercolor over the soluble ink drawing.  Once, I thought that first layer too fugitive with water, but the water control seems easier now.  I will be putting this painting in the Belton Art Gallery when I get Bach to town.  Painting number 2092 inn 2092 days.

Dunn's Cider Mill ATC

Many times I have enjoyed hot cider and doughnuts here! Sometimes, my friends and I would gather for lunch - with grandbabies in tow!  On the outskirts of town, it is picturesque with it's winding drive back to the mill.  Here, I capture this place with ink and watercolor.  I zoom in on the barn for this one (zooming out for the next).  I paint from outside the gate as they are closed for the season.  One of the biggest benefits of painting daily - I get faster as the months roll by.  Faster at seeing what I want, faster at getting it sketched, and faster at laying that paint.  It all becomes SO natural.  Want to change your life?  Change what you do daily.  Painting number 1820 in 1820 days.

Dunn's Cider Mill

This place has AMAZING cider donuts in season.  I have fond memories of meeting friends for lunch and the scarecrow competitions in the fall!  They are now closed for the season, but I couldn't resist this place in her "winter dress". The deep greens of the cedars with the dark, cool red of the barn - it just feels like a Christmas painting.  I've inked it first, and then come in with watercolor.  Once dry, I've inked just a little bit more.  I will definitely be painting this place again!  Painting number 1798 in 1798 days.
