421 Main Street

Picking a spot in the shade, I had a comfortable start on this beautiful old house.  As I worked, the wind picked up from the south, blowing my hair steadily across my face.  Tucking and retucking my hair into my hat, it became apparent that I could not keep it contained. By the time I packed up, I felt like I'd done battle with the wind, and lost!  Oh why didn't I look for shelter first?  Painting number 2460 in 2460 days.

407 Main Street

What a pleasant surprise to find such a charming house on Main Street for today's painting challenge in Paint Parkville!  I walked back and forth, looking for just the right vantage before deciding on this one.  A little rattled for juggling too many things this morning, it was hard to get my head in the game.  I let the pen work it's magic, and pretty soon I was in the zone.  Creative time is therapeutic, and I lost track of time as I sketched.  It was easy to get lost in all those lines and angles!  I popped a few more darks in after this shot, and framed her up.  Now, on to the oils!  Painting number 2377 in 2377 days.

Barnett House Inked

This private estate was a beautiful place to spend the day, complete with barn, lake, lakehouse and woods along the lake.  I could have painted here all day in such beautiful surroundings.  This pen and ink drawing was my first of the day.  Painting number 2350 in 2350 days.

S Delaware and 4th Inked

This little ink drawing was my Tonganoxie quick paint pre-sketch.  In the mad rush that defines a quick paint, I tossed this clipboard in my bag, and did not pull it out until tonight.  I found several watercolor and ink paintings, which I removed in preparation for the painting weekend ahead.  Brush Creek Art Walk starts early in the morning, and runs through Sunday night, and is full of all kinds of painting fun!  There is an artist party tomorrow evening at Union Station to kick things off right!  Painting number 2061 in 2061 days.

House on Walnut Inked

I had a large installation this afternoon for the Now Showing program of Arts KC.  I had so much help deciding where to place the 40 paintings on three different floors  - it was a breeze!  The space at the Bank of Blue Valley is really wonderful, showing the art to best advantage.  I took most of my large paintings, holding a few for an upcoming exhibition at the Albrecht Kemper Museum.  I met Mike to visit his mom in the hospital, followed by dinner out with Michael.  Finally arriving home, I am posting one of the many drawings that slip through the cracks of my daily posting.  I really like the composition and flow of this sketch in one of my favorite places - Augusta!  I often finish more than one piece a day, so there is no telling the number I'm really on for the daily count!  As I progress, I weed those old paintings out...sometimes even painting over them.  If I wouldn't show it now, I don't keep it.  So, there's another number hard to figure out....how many actually still exist of my daily paintings...! Painting number 1673 in 1673......or what could it really be?  Am I a hundred ahead?  More?  😉
